Many women are concerned about finding simple exercises for droopy eyelids that can be done daily at home. The condition of sagging or droopy eyelids not only affects aesthetics, making the face appear older, but also impacts vision and makes it difficult to see clearly. Understanding this, Dr. Eye has compiled effective exercises to help improve this condition.
1. Can droopy eyelids be improved through massage?
Currently, there are no clinical studies confirming that massaging the eyelids helps improve ptosis. However, some survey results indicate that performing eye exercises at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 20 consecutive weeks may effectively change the condition of droopy eyelids.
2. Suggested simple and easy exercises for droopy eyelids
You can choose one of the exercises below to help your eyelids become firmer:
2.1. Eyebrow Raise
This movement helps strengthen the muscles of the eyelids and forehead, reducing early aging.
Instructions:
- First, gently raise your eyebrows as high as possible with both eyes open.
- Then, tightly close your eyes while keeping your eyebrows raised.
- Finally, return the eyebrows to their original position.
Your eyebrows are lifting up.
Be persistent in performing this exercise 10 times a day to see results. At the same time, while your eyes are closed, relax your entire face and avoid frowning to prevent creating additional wrinkles.
2.2. Gently Pinch the Skin Around the Eye Socket
This exercise helps gently lift the eyelids and improve blood circulation in the skin around the eyes to help reduce dark circles and crow’s feet. The method is simple: use two fingers to gently pinch the skin along the edge of the eye socket.
Note that you should perform this continuously for 10 – 15 minutes each day to stimulate better blood flow in the eye area.
2.3. Pull the Tail of the Eyebrow Upward
If you have droopy eyelids due to sagging skin, try the eye massage technique to reduce droopy eyelids by pulling the tail of the eyebrow upward. Regular practice, about 10 – 15 minutes each day, can help naturally lift the eyebrows.
Here’s how to do it:
- Use your index and middle fingers to place them above and below the eyebrow, respectively.
- Then,Press and pull the eyebrows upward towards the temple area.
2.4. Pressing the Eye Sockets
Not only does this help relieve tension after a long day of studying or working, but pressing the eye sockets also helps improve droopy eyelids and enhances visual health. To do this, use your thumbs to press firmly on both sides of the eye sockets and hold for 5 seconds, then slowly release.
To notice a significant improvement in droopy eyelids, you should repeat this action about 5 to 10 times each day.
2.5. Light Tapping Around the Eyes
This is a simple exercise for droopy eyelids that promotes blood circulation in the skin around the eyes, thereby helping the eyelids become firmer over time. The simple method is to use your index and middle fingers to gently tap the skin around the eyes in a circular motion for 30 seconds.

2.6. Trataka-Yogic Exercise
Trataka-Yogic is a yoga movement specifically designed for the eyes, helping to reduce the formation of wrinkles and promote healthier, brighter eyes.
Steps to perform are as follows:
– In the morning:
- Next, open your eyes, look to the left, then to the right (repeat 5 times), and close your eyes again.
- Continue by opening your eyes and looking up to the upper right and down to the lower left (repeat 5 times), then close your eyes. After that, perform in the opposite direction.
- Finally, rub your palms together until warm and gently place them over your eyes to relax before finishing the exercise.
– In the evening:
- Close your right eye, then use your right hand to cover the eye and gently touch the right eyelid.
- Continue by closing your left eye, then use your left hand to cover the eye and touch the left eyelid.
– Before going to sleep:
- Light a candle, then sit cross-legged in the most comfortable position.
- Bring the candle close to your face (but at a safe distance to avoid burning your skin) and stare at the flame until tears flow.
- Lie down on your back, relaxing your eyes.in 10 minutes.
Consistently combining the three exercises mentioned above daily helps brighten the eyes and reduce eyelid droopiness.
2.7. Eye Covering Exercise
This simple exercise, when performed regularly 10 – 15 times a day, will help you achieve larger, rounder eyes and smooth eyelids. Here’s how to do it:
- First, tightly close your eyes but avoid squinting, as this may cause wrinkles.
- Next, try to raise your eyebrows as high as possible while keeping your eyes closed.
2.8. Upper Eyelid Strengthening Exercise
Droopy eyelids may result from reduced elasticity in the upper eyelid muscles. To improve this condition, perform the following exercise twice a day, five days a week.
- First, look straight into the mirror, then place your index finger under your eyebrow and your middle finger slightly bent, keeping the eyebrow in the socket position.
- Next, slowly close your eyes tightly and stretch the upper eyelid for 10 – 15 seconds (repeat 5 times).
- Finally, release your hands, close your eyes, and gently massage in a circular motion with two fingers to relax the eyelids.

2.9. Exercise to Reduce Under-Eye Bags
If you are looking for eye massage techniques to reduce droopy eyelids and diminish under-eye bags, try the exercise below:
- First, sit up straight or lie comfortably on a flat surface and place two fingers on your eyes, with your index finger at the outer corner and your middle finger at the inner corner.
- Then, gently press with both fingers while continuously moving your eyes. Specifically, only move your lower eyelid while keeping your upper eyelid in place.
- Finally, completely relax your eyes and repeat the above steps 10 times daily.
2.10. Skin Brightening Exercise
The skin of the eyelids will gradually become firm and radiant if you perform the following massage techniques regularly 2 – 3 times a day:
- Use your middle finger to gently tap along a curved path, starting from the two temples down to the cheekbones and ending at the bridge of the nose.
- Simultaneously use both hands at the same time with the samea consistent tapping force.
3. What should you keep in mind when massaging droopy eyelids?
During the at-home eye massage process, you should pay attention to the following points to achieve the best results:
- Perform as gently as possible to avoid creating additional wrinkles on the skin.
- Apply additional moisturizer or massage oil to reduce friction between your hands and the skin around your eyes.
- It is advisable to practice regularly every day for at least 3 to 6 months.
The above are all very simple exercises for droopy eyelids that can be done at home anytime. However, you need to understand that these exercises only help relax the skin around the eyes and may help reduce mild droopiness. Additionally, you need to be patient and practice consistently for several months to see results.
If the droopiness is significant and affects your vision, the best approach is still to use aesthetic intervention methods such as upper eyelid surgery, brow lift, or shortening the eyelid lifting muscle… Regardless of the procedure you choose, the most important thing is to select a reputable clinic with a team of skilled doctors to receive appropriate consultation and ensure safety.
